Mary Souza is a Republican member of the Idaho Senate and former nurse. She was first elected in 2014, defeating Constitution Party challenger Ray J. Writz with nearly 75% of the vote.[1] Souza is facing Democratic challenger Kristi Milan in the 2016 election.[2]
In 2015, she co-sponsored a bill that would allow parents to withdraw their children from any activity that "impairs the parents’ firmly held beliefs, values or principles."[3]
Political positions
Souza is opposed to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and is also opposed to expanding Medicaid.[2]
Personal life
Souza and her husband, Rick, have 4 children and one grandchild. They reside in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.[4]
